Miss. Julia Hits the Road

Not really, but if I was writing the next book in the Miss. Julia series that would be my title. There are six books in the series and after book number three it's time to send Miss. Julia packing. She's a Southern lady with a very independent streak and a knack for whining. The plot in each book is the always the same. Someone has a problem, she thinks she has to fix it and nobody else knows what they're doing, problem solved, end of book. I decided I could take no more of this and quit while I was ahead. So if anyone has any suggestions for new reading material, I would be much obliged.

I've thought and thought about this, and I'm still having a hard time coming up with something for you.

One of my favorite books of all time is Goodnight, Mr. Tom. I read it in 8th grade, and I continued to read it over and over for a couple of years.

Cather in the Rye is also a favorite, but it has a lot of language.

I'm currently doing a study of the women int he Bible and using the book 'Women of the Bible: The Life and Hard Times of Every Woman in the Bible' by Larry and Sue Richards. I wouldn't recommend it for 'fun reading', but it's really interesting.

I'm also reading Love and Respect by Emerson Eggerich. He and his wife have done a few marriage conferences at New Vision (I haven't been to one yet), but I've heard they're really good. I'm about 100 pages into this one, and it's pretty eye opening (though you may be fully aware of what he's talking about, seeing as though you've been married significantly longer than me :) )

Oh, and my other all time favorite book, Teacher Man by Frank McCourt. He's also the author of Angela's Ashes and 'Tis, but I have yet to read them (although I own them and have heard they're very good).

Hope you find something you really enjoy!

I have a series that sounds similar... "Dearest Dorothy"... I'm hooked... I have the first two and am hoping for the others come Christmas... It's set just a bit south of Chicago (may be why I like it)... let me know if you're interested and I'll bring em in.
