Latest Update

We are going to Marietta, GA on August 28th to meet with the immigration lawyer. I've done some research about her and the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status. So, we are going to get the ball rolling. The 28th is also Hannah's birthday, so please pray for her not to feel disappointment that we won't be her on her birthday.

The SIJS is basically a way for her to get her green card and given all the rights of a permanent resident including the option for naturaliztion after 5 years. She would have to be declared a ward of the court first and then we could apply to INS for the SIJS. (I love all the initials!) I won't know until we visit the lawyer what that means as far as being adopted by us or how that affects her future other than she would have legal status and not be in limbo. I did find out it could take 6-18 months for the SIJS to be decided upon.

Pray that we know the questions to ask and that the lawyer can explain things in simple terms. Pray that we will have safety while traveling and for the assurance that this is the next step God would have us take.

That really stinks about Hannah's birthday :(

Guess what book my sister-in-law had in her purse earlier today? ;)
